Child Malnutrition
Curbing the menace
Bimbola
Pregnancy is a critical period of development for a fetus. Avoid low birth weight (LBW), which could make a child be at risks of malnutrition such as stunting. Thus, while a child is in utero, the organs are formed. Therefore, without adequate feeding, the embryo is susceptible to injuries such as malformation and low birth weight.
What is Low Birth Weight?
LBW is when a child is born and weighs less than 2.5kg. Low birth weight baby is at risks of morbidity and mortality. Therefore,  food intake should be significantly increased during pregnancy to cater for the child development, including the formation of tissues, organs and systems.
